Born in Grenoble on May 31, 1920 died in Annonay on March 17, 1982, graduated from the School of Fine Arts of Lyon, student of Albert Gleizes married to Denis Héraut Legrain he founded with her the movement Vitalisme, he lived in Serrières Ardèche where he founded his workshop La petite Baronnie. Jean Marcel Herald is known for his waterscapes, seascapes, tapestry cartoons, woodcuts and religious and poetry works. His works are visible at the museums of Valence, Bayeux and Royans, he has exhibited in New York, Paris and Amsterdam
